Logs – 19th jan

7:00 Am

Okay, here we go, one more day beginning to unfold.

Let me take out the book, headphone, lip guard.

Strangers, strangers,…how long can they remain  strangers. Ice will break some day or the other. May I be should add that as part of my to-do list. It’ll be nice to see the reaction on their faces when a supposed stranger starts a friendly banter all of a sudden.

Ok shut up now. I need some quiet.

…<sounds of a radio jockey>…

I can make out a few grammatical mistakes in what he speaking.

I wonder what he looks like. Square faced, wheatish complexion, bony chiseled face structure? Mayyy be.

…<a loud dance number>…

Totally inappropriate for a pleasant morning.

<channel change>……<a pleasant old song>..aaah that’s what I asked for. :)

<the bus drives past a closed shop with “elf builders” written on its shutters> elfffff….a linux executable…oh god those days….doesn’t seem like five months have gone by at all…tossing a 12MB elf from here to there..zzzzzz

whoa, is that him<yeah yeah, wishful thinking>..the person sitting in the seat right before mine. I know it is not the same person. Let me tilt my head a little more and confirm that it is not him.

yeah, not him <sigh>.

Oh godd…grow up!!! What do you expect??

Hmmmm…Nothing. I know I’m juuust fine now. I don’t need to go back to my old stupid self. I know that’ll not do me any good. But, if only it had turned out in some other way….sighhhh

Pathetic you are! Get a life.

Ok ok…<…deep breath….> Lets cherish what was hidden in those moments and move on………

<..lots of songs, ads and rj blabber amidst all these…>

Wait, what was that dream last night? Ah! the same old nightmare…that it is my wedding, all the guests have assembled and I realize that I don’t know anything about the guy I’m marrying….and I somehow get out of that place :P

Lets keep an eye on the route. It’ll come in handy sometime.

Ok, so what plan for the weekend? shopping? parlour? visiting granny? assignment completion? check out salsa classes in our area? another blog? go through some work related documents? visit the park nearby?

Hm..how many times should I remind you not to think about the weekend. Plan for today. Live for today. See what you can fit in today. Think of how you can make today a better day…so that you don’t have to stress over it during the weekend.

Remember yesterday’s mail ? such a nice one. :) .<..those sentences echo line by line..word by word..>

Thank you god, for blessing me with such genuine friends. <…those smiley faces flash by…>. Absolute sweethearts. God bless them all.

And, here comes the final stop. All the best dear :) Be honest. Do your best. You’ll have a great day.

8:10 AM.

I’ll be there for you

MJ and Peter Parker

Mary Jane: Has he mentioned me?

Peter Parker: Yea.

Mary Jane: What’d he say?

Peter Parker: Uh… I said… he asked me what I thought about you.

Mary Jane: And what did you say?

Peter Parker: I said… uh…?Spiderman”, I said uh…?The great thing about MJ is… when you look in her eyes and she’s looking back in yours… everything… feels… not quite normal. Because you feel stronger and weaker at the same time. You feel excited and at the same time, terrified. The truth is… you don’t know what you feel except you know what kind of man you want to be. It’s as if you’ve reached the unreachable and you weren’t ready for it.

Mary Jane: You said that?

Peter Parker: Well, something like that.

It is not that hard…

life…time…someone

Amore

No matter how cynic I sound when I talk about love, there is always something that gets me go ga ga over it everytime!

And this time it is this last scene in a movie I watched . Actually if I notice…it is always the last scene in such movies..or the last few lines in a book that does it.  If I dig further I see a pattern. I see a pattern in what I like about love stories. Not the beginning (where the characters meet)…not the middle (where they fall for each other)..not even the end (where they confess and live happily ever after). It is actually, just before the ending, where one of them ‘realizes’ the fact and he/she takes this deep nervous breath and smile a teary smile. I feel the essence and the beauty of the whole story lies here. Right at this moment. I look for this particular point in a story and if it is told/shown well, I go…’awwww’ with a hand on my heart. I make sure to wipe off that stupid tear that brims through my eyes then.

Oh! I was supposed to tell you what made me write this. I digressed…sorry.

It was the last scene in the movie ‘Wake Up Sid‘. The song, the rain and the feel.< I almost fell for the protagonist!>

Here’s the lyrics of the song…

Boondon ke motiyon mein khul ke ehsaas aaya,
(The feeling came out of the droplets)
Waqt se nikal ke lamha dil ke pass aaya,
(The moment came out of the time, to my heart)
chooke guzra tha par … Dil ko na mehsus hua
(It had touched my heart and I didn’t realize)
Ab jo dekha to woh lamha dil ko raas aya
(Now when I looked, I liked that moment)
Yoon ke tehh kar na paaoon re..
(I can’t do this…)
Dil ki baat main hawa ke ,zariye pahunchaoo re
(I’ll send my heart’s message through the winds)
Ya khud hawa pe chalke,,, aaoon re
(Or should I come to you on the wind?)
Tum se pyaar hai ye khul ke, jin me keh paaooon re
(I love you, I could say this in that message)
Lafz wo kahaan se laooon re…
(Where do I get those words from? )
Wake up theres a calling…calling….Life is coming your way… Life is coming your way….

Meme on the corner page

After a series of some serious blogging, I thought why not start a meme on the  blog. If you are wondering what it is…a Meme (pronounced to rhyme with “theme”) is a set of questions/answers on any random topic that is passed around through tags. They are usually fun to take part in and propagate . They help you provide some interesting content to your reader.

There are tons of fun memes floating around. I picked up this one from a random link. So, here it goes….

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 2. Write down what it says:

Ahem! The nearest book I can find lying around this desk for quite some days  is  ’Shantaram’ which I guess my brother is reading…here’s what I find on page 18 and line 2

‘Is he fuckin’ serious? Who the fuck is dyin’ here? Jesus!’

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What do you touch first?

I touch a window pane(with… an inch of dust on it. !…I should clean it up today lest I should die with bronchitis!!)

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?

Can’t remember clearly…because I dozed off with remote in my hand…it must be some scene with actor Revathy in it from ‘Darna Mana Hain’  which was playing on zoom last night.

4. WITHOUT LOOKING, guess what time it is:

Er…it must be around 9 ish.

5. Now look at the clock, what is the actual time?

It is 9:28! Not bad…I’m not as sleepy as I thought I am.

6.With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?

Automobile sound….rickshaws mostly,..combined with some bell like sound…may be our milk-man is taking around his cows or may be my neighbour is doing Tulsi Pooja.

7.When did you last step outside? where did you go?

Thats easy. It was at 6:30 today morning. To my Yoga class.

8.Before you came to this website, what did you look at?

Um…I think I checked my both gmail accounts, checked my university mail account, checked my google reader account and landed straight down here.

9.Did you dream last night?

Thinking hard….no I guess..it was pretty much a deeeeep sleep! Lucky me :)

10.When did you last laugh?

Last night. For no reason actually! Oh..before you think I am insane….let me explain. Someone called up last night for a marriage proposal and my parents spoke to that person..after they hung up the phone, they started laughing. Since I didn’t hear the conversation…I don’t know what exactly happened. Later learned that it was a case of mistaken identity…comedy of errors..of the sorts. And laughter is so contagious….I started laughing too…sometimes you really don’t need a reason!

11. What is on the walls of the room you are in?

Lemme look around..There is this wall hanging (it was a birthday gift from my schoolmates Supritha and Akhila..and if I remember right…i got it on my 17th birthday)..it says few things about friendship….let me quote the last line..

‘Friendship is love for all seasons’

12. Who is your latest crush?

Hm…it is a tie between Gerard Butler and Bradley cooper.

13. If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy first?

I’ll buy a butter-scotch ice cream with hot chocolate fudge. Well it has got nothing to do with me becoming a millionaire. It is just that I’ve been dying to eat that….

14. Tell me something about you that I don’t know:

I’ve acted in a movie….<honest>…hehe before you let your imagination running loose…let me explain. I was in 7th standard. It was a movie by Nagabharana..a noted Kannada film maker. It was a children’s film. I was one of a group of students picked from our school. I don’t know if the movie got released or not…but it was a fun experience.

15. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?

I really really really wish to see each and every child being able to go to school.

16. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her? a boy?

:) I don’t know….it is a far off thinking…anyways…for the fun of it….for a girl it would be ‘Hani’..(sounds like honey!)..i think it is a sweet name……..for a boy it would be….err..i don’t know…really hard to think..i’ll update this space a while later.

17. What is the last film you saw?

‘Ella Enchanted’…for the 5th or 6th time I think. I can’t get enough of chick flicks/fairy tales.

18. Who is your favourite super-hero?

It has to be spider-man (I don’t know if it is because Tobey MaGuire played his role!)

19. Would you ever consider living abroad?

Nop! It is going to be namma bengaluru all the way.

20. Your favourite sitcom :

A tie between Full house (thanks to Seema for introducing me to it) and F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

Okay, I’m done. Time to pass on this meme. Let me think of people who are most likely to update their blogs.

I’d like to tag

aginesh,chandra,deepak,niveditha,ninosandeep . Guys..please do the honors.

If only…

I got down at my stop and  quickly glanced at my watch. Shoot! I was late again. I groaned …that is all I could do nowadays..at forty. This is just not the time for retrospection, I thought and  hurried to cross the road at the busy junction. I somehow managed to squeeze in  towards the other end and started my walk-run towards the office. Then I saw something . I couldn’t have possibly missed that face even among thousands of strangers running past me. The sight of that face unlocked the deepest closet of memories which I had tightly tucked away fifteen years ago. That was my classmate..er…confidant..er..friend..er..acquaintance..er..It has been years and still I cannot put a name to our relationship.

At first I thought I should look away and pretend not to have seen her. It seemed like she did the same too. It was as though I was looking at a mirror. After a few seconds we both gave in and finally looked at each other. An uncertain smile crossed our faces. Questions popped like never before in my mind. Am I happy seeing her..? Did I miss her all this while..? Has she changed..? Have I changed..? What happened between us..? Why didn’t we stay in touch..? Am I still close to her..?

With all these thoughts running, it was awkward walking towards her.  We clearly didn’t know how to greet each other. It seemed like we couldn’t decide whether it should be a hug or a formal handshake..and managed to do something in between.

I started cheerfully…”Hey! Long time…how have you been?..when did you return?”. She answered them promptly. I am sure both of us had more to ask and more to say…but neither of us blinked…just like few years ago when few turn of events had started a cold war of sorts between us. While I stayed on and pursued my work here, she moved to another country. Few unanswered mails, few unreturned calls and some painful formal talks whenever we happened to meet were the main ingredients for our separation. On many lonely occasions I have thought, may be we weren’t friends at all in the first place. If we were so, then we would not have let few incidents test our bond. I am sure she would have thought the same too.

As fate would have it, here we were, coinciding in time and space again. It turned out that she was running late to her office too. We exchanged pleasantries for a few seconds ,took down each other’s numbers and told each other to stay in touch (thank god for such cliches! they really come in handy when you don’t know what to speak.)

And we parted again. I sighed and there was only one phrase that hung in the air that day…”If only…”.
